Cash on delivery and paying online
Cash on delivery is still how a lot of first orders are paid. Paying online is there for the customer who would rather pay before the parcel leaves. You can offer both, as long as every order says which one it is.
Two kinds of payment
A cash order is collected when it is delivered. An online payment settles into your own account. Packing and your own records should follow that difference, so a paid order is not treated like one that still needs cash.
Confirm a cash order first
A short confirmation gives the customer a chance to correct the address, or to cancel, before you send the parcel. Confirm, then hand it to delivery.
What to show at checkout
Show the items, the delivery charge and the total, and the way they are paying. If you deliver only to some cities, say so before they finish the order.
Apply for early access when you are ready to take both kinds of payment on your own store. We’ll email you when a place is ready.
